Throughout my career as a specialist in water purification and higher education teaching in Chemistry with working experience of over 7 years, a co-founder of Palestine Youth Parliament of Water, a program coordinator at Tamkeen Organization for Women’s Empowerment since 2020, and a visiting researcher at the following: Forschungszentrum Jülich, Germany (2019), Concordia University, Canada (2024) and Institute for Organic Synthesis and Photoreactivity, National Research Council, Italy (2025). These experiences have grown my leadership, organization, flexibility, and communication skills. I am passionate about applying to this opportunity as being part of your program will enrich my experience and skill set. In addition, it will be great for knowledge exchange and scientific networking.

Throughout my education, I hold a PhD (2021), an MSc (2016) in Physical and Analytical Chemistry from An-Najah National University, and a BSc in Chemistry from Arab American University (2014). During the last decade, I have been deeply involved in research projects locally and internationally that have allowed me to explore the intricacies of Water Treatment, Environmental Sustainability, and Analytical and Physical Chemistry. I have won 14 competitive fellowships, prizes, and research grants (nationally and internationally) for my effective scientific contributions. I also have had the privilege of presenting my work at international conferences in Europe, Africa, and Asia.
My decision for water purification to be my major research interest was a result of my feeling of taking a critical responsibility in having sustainable solutions to the water crisis in my country, due to the presence of limited water resources and high pollution levels. My journey with water research has been started in 2015 at An-Najah National University when I worked on my master's thesis entitled ‘Purification of Groundwater from Toxic Heavy Metals Using Suspended Polydentate Supported Ligands’. Followed by my Ph.D. project which was about ‘Purification of Water in Palestine from Persistent Pesticides Using New Synthesized Cellulose Nanoparticles’. In addition, participated in 14 scientific papers, most of them with high-impact factors, with a current h-index of 10. I have also won 13 local and international awards and research grants for my scientific contributions. My research projects are mostly focused on the synthesis of low-cost and efficient adsorbents for removing organic and inorganic pollutants from water including pharmaceutical residues, pesticides, and heavy metals, In addition, investigation of thermodynamic and kinetic parameters for each adsorption process and determining the optimum conditions (temperature, pH, contact time, etc) for pollutants removal from water to a drinkable degree.
