Hong Kong Laureate Forum provides a unique opportunity for young researchers to build connections with others by sharing their research experience and opinions on up-to-date topics. Having multiple research experiences in astrophysics, and will pursue a PhD in the area, I am excited to meet the experts and other talents to discuss the latest discoveries and cutting-edge methodologies that may be applied in the future. I am also eager to gain a deeper understanding of the research journey I will face by pursuing a PhD and accepting insights from the seniors.
Apart from that, I am particularly interested in understanding more about the research conducted by Prof Balbus, as his study on the accretion disk has inspired me. After reading his paper on the dynamics of accretion near the innermost stable circular orbit, I have a strong will to understand more about the area, as the turbulent system in the ISCO may be explained using a new thin disk model instead of the classical model which will breakdown near the region. Therefore, I am looking forward to his talk and the discussion with him.
