5. I am Song Ziru, a year one undergraduate student from the University of Hong Kong. I come from the Department of Science and am now majoring in Actuarial Science. I used to participate in the IMMC competition when I was in secondary school and won a second prize in Mainland China. That experience deeply impressed me with how math can be applied to real-life problems and make the world a better place since the topic of modeling at that time was about the capacity of the earth. After that, I did a scientific project about using the quantum computing algorithm to solve real-world problems under the guidance of a professor from Peking University when I participated in The Talent Program and brought that project to ISEF as well as other competitions and conferences such as WLF SCI-T conference and The Beijing Youth Science Creation Competition. Now, I’m still interested in dealing with math models and statistics and want to use that knowledge to design insurance products that could help society avoid risks better. Moreover, I am open-minded and outgoing, so I appreciate this opportunity and want to communicate with experts and other students.
