Dear Scientific Review Committee of the Hong Kong Laureate Forum,
the Hong Kong Laureate Forum represents a unique platform for scientific exchange, bringing together exceptional minds from diverse disciplines to share the results of their hard work. It is an opportunity to not only connect across fields but also across cultures, fostering a richer understanding of scientific perspectives from around the globe.
Having pursued an international master’s degree, I have experienced firsthand the value of cross-cultural collaboration in science. Thus, the incredible opportunity to participate in this forum would allow me to further broaden my view on how different cultures approach scientific research. I believe that the insights I could gain by observing how other researchers prioritize and approach their work would be invaluable to my own academic development. Additionally, I hope to contribute my own experiences, offering insights that could potentially inspire and benefit fellow researchers, just as others previously inspired me on my path.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to the opportunity of joining this inspiring gathering of minds.
With kind regards
Sebastian Schupp

In our Concussion Clinic, annually over 1,000 children and adolescents who have sustained a mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) are treated. As part of my clinical responsibilities, I conduct a comprehensive Concussion Work-Up to assess symptom severity, neurological dysfunction, and risk factors for prolonged recovery. Based on these findings, I work together with physicians to provide patients and their families with extensive counseling on recovery strategies, including return-to-activity and return-to-school. For patients experiencing persistent post-concussive symptoms, we provide interdisciplinary rehabilitation, integrating physical and cognitive therapies to facilitate recovery.
In this context, my research seeks to bridge the gap between motor function analysis and neurophysiological assessment in pediatric mTBI. I focus on how postural control patterns predict recovery and am working to establish a standardized approach for evaluating oculomotor behavior post-injury. Recognizing the complexity of sensory integration, I aim to combine postural and visual assessments with EEG and fNIRS to gain deeper insights into mTBI-related neural changes. These advancements will contribute to evidence-based return-to-activity guidelines and individualized rehabilitation strategies, ensuring a more effective recovery pathway for pediatric patients.
