As an expert in ultraviolet (UV) astronomy (stellar astrophysics related to white dwarfs, star clusters, and transients), I see the Hong Kong Laureate Forum as an invaluable platform for engaging with Nobel laureates, distinguished faculty, and fellow students. The forum offers a unique opportunity to discuss cutting-edge scientific research, particularly in the context of the upcoming UV space missions (UVEX, CASTOR) set to launch in the next decade. Furthermore, I believe the forum will provide an excellent opportunity to raise public awareness about the importance of space missions in advancing astronomical research. Such missions are not only pivotal for expanding our knowledge of the universe but also have the potential to inspire future generations of scientists and engineers. As a member of the UV missions, I look forward to discussing potential funding opportunities that will support these vital space initiatives. In addition, I am particularly keen to explore how the cutting-edge technologies developed for space missions can be applied to other fields of science, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and opening new avenues for research. I am confident that the exchange of ideas at the forum will inspire new directions in both fundamental astronomy and its broader applications.
