I am writing to express my enthusiasm for joining the Hong Kong Laureate Forum as a postdoctoral researcher in ophthalmology and visual sciences. With a robust background in cross-field research encompassing medicine, engineering, and translational applications, I am eager to contribute to and learn from the esteemed community of scholars and innovators at the Forum.
My academic journey has been driven by a deep-seated curiosity to improve eye health through innovative research. My doctoral work focused on developing a novel wireless device for recording ophthalmic electrophysiology signals, which managed to reach the stage for translational investigation. This interdisciplinary approach has not only honed my technical skills but also fostered a collaborative mindset essential for translational research.
The Hong Kong Laureate Forum presents an unparalleled opportunity to engage with leading experts, exchange ideas, and explore new avenues for research. I am particularly interested in the Forum's emphasis on fostering international collaboration and promoting the translation of scientific discoveries into practical applications. I am confident that my background in engineering and medicine will enable me to contribute meaningfully to discussions on the future of ophthalmology and visual sciences.

My research focuses on advancing ophthalmic diagnostics through the development of innovative technologies, particularly in electroretinography (ERG). One of my key contributions is the creation of a wireless ERG recording system, which aims to enhance the precision and convenience of retinal function assessments. This system allows for the capture of ERG recordings without the need for traditional wired setups, thereby improving patient comfort and mobility during testing.
The wireless system has been validated through comparisons with standard ERG equipment, demonstrating its effectiveness in measuring critical ERG parameters. By digitizing and wirelessly transmitting the ERG signals, this technology reduces noise and electrical interference, providing clearer and more reliable data.
This innovation aligns with broader advancements in ERG technology, which have evolved to include multifocal ERG and pattern ERG techniques, enabling more precise mapping of retinal function. My work contributes to this progress by offering a solution that not only enhances diagnostic accuracy but also simplifies the testing process, making it more accessible and less intimidating for patients. Ultimately, my research is driven by the goal of improving eye care through technological innovation.
