I am excited to apply for the Laureate Forum in Hong Kong as it presents a unique opportunity to connect with leading researchers worldwide, fostering collaborations that transcend disciplinary boundaries. My expertise in AI-driven healthcare solutions aligns with the forum’s mission of advancing innovation through interdisciplinary exchange. I aim to expand my professional network, engage in insightly discussions, and explore multidisciplinary projects that integrate AI with global health challenges, from the region and beyond.
The forum’s emphasis on knowledge-sharing will allow me to learn diverse research methodologies, refine my scientific communication skills, and bridge gaps between technology and medicine. I am particularly interested in discussing ethical AI deployment, precision medicine, and scalable healthcare solutions— that resonate with the Laureate Forum’s vision for young scientists.
By interacting with experts from varied fields, I hope to gain fresh perspectives, enhance my ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, and contribute to transformative research. Participating in this forum would be a pivotal step in my journey to drive impactful, collaborative advancements in science and technology.

Dr. Hui was awarded a fellowship in the GetWellNetwork (i.e., a health technology company based in Washington DC, USA) in 2019, received a scholar award from the Academy of Violence and Abuse (AVA) in 2021, and was recently awarded the LEAD Early Career Award at the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) Informatics Summit 2023 in Seattle, United States. She is the editor for Artificial Intelligence in Medicine, guest editor in Nursing Education in Practice, and Discover Public Health in the healthcare artificial intelligence field. Dr. Hui is appointed as the Nursing Informatics Education Advisory Panel at the International Medical Informatics.
Dr. Vivian Hui is currently an assistant professor at the School of Nursing, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and an adjunct faculty at the School of Nursing, University of Pittsburgh, USA. Her research interests intersect health technology innovation, domestic violence, cancer survivorship, and nursing informatics. Dr. Hui mainly focuses on survivorship research by computational/ informatics techniques on digital text-based data. She leveraged natural language processing (NLP) techniques such as Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) topic modeling, sentiment analysis, network analysis, and linguistic inquiry word count (LIWC), and large language models (LLMs) to explore the information, emotional needs, and help-seeking behaviors among women with DV experiences from online health communities. In addition, she has also been collaborating in multiple machine learning projects to build healthcare recommender systems, persona structure, and LLM-driven chatbots by offering clinical and informatics insight to adapt to a wide spectrum of needs among patients. She also evaluated technology adoption and explored how health technology has improved the Person Engagement Index (PEI) in clinical settings.
