Statement of Purpose to Join the Forum (max. 200 words)

I am writing to express my keen interest in participating in the Hong Kong Laureate Forum 2025. As a freshly minted Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Camerino, Italy, my research has focused on developing sustainable and efficient synthetic methodologies, with a strong emphasis on green chemistry principles and minimizing environmental impact.

I want to avail myself of this unique opportunity provided by the HK forum to engage with world-renowned laureates and emerging fellow researchers from diverse disciplines. I am particularly attracted to the mission of fostering a global and cross-generational dialogue along with inspiring innovation and promoting sustainability for the future. Being part of such a dynamic platform will allow me to share insights from my work in sustainable and green chemical methods development while learning from laureates whose scientific achievements have profoundly shaped our understanding of the natural world.

The fast-changing global landscape requires collaborations and interdisciplinary thinking more than ever before. I hope to contribute in a meaningful way to the Forum’s conversational sessions; and in turn, I aim to gain fresh perspectives that will enhance my future research endeavors, specifically in applying sustainable chemistry to address global challenges such as climate change and resource

Abstract of Research / Brief Description of Your Current Research Interest (max. 200 words)

My research background centers on synthetic organic chemistry. During my PhD. I worked independently and gained expertise with the synthesis of pharmaceutically important heterocycles under green conditions. Specifically, I studied the reactivity of beta-nitroenones and acrylates, explored the possibility to utilize them as a precursor for various bioactive heterocyclic systems including pyridazines, isoxazoles, thiophenes, and conjugated nitrotriene systems. These works promoted sustainability in terms of green energy conditions, including microwave, photochemistry, and flow chemistry. While use of green solvents, mild conditions, and less wasteful workups endorsed their importance in mitigating climate change impacts. Thoroughly I retain expertise with optimization studies, methodologies development, and small molecule synthesis.
