Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Science

My dissertation title is "Investigating the astroglia-neuron interaction in the hippocampal CA1 area in a rat model of autism: Focusing on the role of aquaporin 4." It is the focus of my Ph.D. research to investigate the excitability of pyramidal neurons in the CA1 hippocampal area using in vitro whole-cell patch clamp recordings, both in a current-clamp and a voltage-clamp mode. Moreover, I carried out immunohistochemical and behavioral studies such as social interaction, an elevated zero-maze, novel object recognition, and so on. During my Ph.D. program, I was involved in several different projects, including patch clamp recording from hair cell-like cells differentiated from bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells, histological and electrophysiological studies in autistic-like rats, and a kainic acid model of temporal lobe epilepsy. Articles derived from my collaborations on these projects are mentioned on my resume. Presently, I am working on analyzing the data I obtained from my thesis and research project and writing manuscripts.
