The Laureate Forum brings all the talented, professional and experienced scientist onto the same stage, where mutual ideas exchange, inspiration and exploration are promoted. As a second year medical student, I have been exposed to many fundamental knowledge about genetics, physiology and metabolism. Yet, I have yet explored 0.1% of the ocean of life science and medicine - for everything outside the syllabus of year 2.
The packed timetable in medicine studies does not always allow me to grasp opportunities to finally delve into the world of genuine life science - not only basic metabolic pathway and physiology, but new, state-of-the-art and groundbreaking research. Inspired by my experience as a research assistant in a summer internship working with autistic research, I have determined to force myself to catch the pace of scientific development. Though I could not produce anything really valid and with substance right now, by absorbing and assimilating knowledge and insight from all the key speakers, especially Shaw Laureates, I hope that one day I can join them to inspire the next generation.

I have not yet been engaged to a genuine research project fully now. Yet, I am enthused of psychiatric studies on how different electrical activity of brain will trigger different responses to external stimuli, and hence the relationship with different presentation of psychiatric disorder. The last research project that I was involved as a summer student intern was about how autistic kids may have different mood induction mechanism and outcome by auditory stimuli, mainly vowels.
