Statement of Purpose to Join the Forum (max. 200 words)

As a passionate Computer Science and AI researcher, I am eager to join the Hong Kong Laureate Forum 2025 to connect with esteemed Shaw Laureates and fellow young scientists. My academic journey focuses on bridging computational theory and real-world applications, particularly through advancements in artificial intelligence and data science. For instance, my recent work on optimizing machine learning algorithms has deepened my interest in their mathematical foundations.

The event’s mission to foster interdisciplinary collaboration aligns closely with my goals. I am especially keen to explore how mathematical principles drive progress in Computer Science. Engaging with experts in Mathematical Sciences will broaden my perspective and enhance my research capabilities.

Participating in this gathering offers a unique opportunity to exchange ideas, gain insights from leading minds, and contribute to discussions that push beyond traditional academic boundaries. I am excited to challenge my viewpoints, expand my horizons, and join a global community committed to scientific excellence.

With my background and dedication to continuous learning, I am confident in my alignment with the Forum’s objectives. I look forward to contributing to this vibrant scientific community and growing as a researcher.

Abstract of Research / Brief Description of Your Current Research Interest (max. 200 words)

My research focuses on pervasive human-AI collaboration in interactive tourism, exploring how AI can enhance tourist experiences through seamless interaction. In my MPhil thesis at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, I developed a Telegram bot that integrates an image retrieval system with ChatGPT to assist tourists in identifying cultural and historical objects and obtaining detailed descriptions. By capturing a photo of an object, users receive its original image, a URL link, and a ChatGPT-generated description, enabling them to ask follow-up questions directly within the bot. I employed deep convolutional neural networks and image augmentation to improve identification accuracy, achieving promising results during experiments in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. A survey of 37 users confirmed the system’s feasibility and relevance, with over 80% expressing positive feedback. My current interests lie in advancing human-AI collaboration by exploring multimodal content generation (e.g., video, audio) within such systems, investigating scalability for larger datasets, and conducting detailed user experience studies across diverse tourist groups to refine and commercialize these technologies for global tourism applications.
