At 34 years old, I serve as the Coordinator for Global Collaborations at the Cryo-EM national facility of BRIN, Indonesia’s national research agency. I am president-elect for Indonesian Structural Biology Association (ISBA). My scientific journey, from solving macromolecular structures in Japan, Spain, and Italy, to receiving the FAOBMB Young Scientist Award in 2019 for elucidating the structure of PPAR. has been driven by a passion for cross-border scientific dialogue.
Joining the Hong Kong Laureate Forum represents a unique opportunity to connect with world-class scientists and fellow young researchers. More than just personal growth, my goal is to be a bridge, channeling global insights back into Indonesia’s research ecosystem. I believe science should be a diplomatic force, capable of uniting diverse minds to address global challenges.
The Forum aligns with my vision of building meaningful, long-term international collaborations and nurturing a generation of scientists who think beyond borders. With deep enthusiasm, I aim to contribute actively, absorb insights from the Shaw Laureates, and amplify the impact of this experience through my leadership role at BRIN.

President-elect of the Indonesia Structural Biology Association (2024–present); member of the Indonesian Young Academy of Sciences (ALMI) and its Science-Policy Working Group (2024–2029); Head of Scientific & International Collaboration at ISMBMB (2023–2028). Recipient of the FAOBMB Young Scientist Award (2019) and MEXT Scholarship (2015–2019). Selected for the Indonesian-American KAVLI Frontiers Symposium (NAS, USA, 2023).
2019 from (FAOBMB) Federation of National Societies of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in the Asian and Oceanian Region
The National Research and Innovation Agency of Indonesia (BRIN) leads research, development, and innovation across disciplines, with structural biology as one of its key priorities. The need for high-resolution structural data, essential for structure-based drug and vaccine design, has driven BRIN to invest in cutting-edge Cryo-Electron Microscopy (Cryo-EM) technologies. Traditional methods like X-ray crystallography and NMR face limitations in resolving complex biomolecules, making Cryo-EM a transformative alternative.
BRIN’s state-of-the-art Cryo-EM facility in Cibinong, West Java, is Indonesia’s most comprehensive infrastructure for structural and cellular biology. The workflow includes sample vitrification via Vitrobot, negative staining, and imaging through a Tundra 100kV Cryo-TEM. For high-resolution single particle analysis, the Krios G4 300kV Cryo-TEM enables 3D structure determination. Cryo-electron tomography is facilitated by Aquilos Cryo-FIB, while data processing and reconstruction are supported by High-Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructure.
Additionally, the facility houses a Talos F200C for versatile imaging at both cryo and room temperatures, supporting TEM-STEM EDS, high-resolution TEM, and tomography. This integrated platform is accessible not only to Indonesian researchers but also to the global scientific community via BRIN’s online portal, E-Layanan Sains (ELSA) at https://elsa.brin.go.id, fostering inclusive international collaboration.
